Tasting Notes: Although Lodi is in California's Central Valley, its climate is more Mediterranean than the hot, dry semi-arid climate you might expect. This is thanks to the many rivers which run through the AVA and the creeks, estuaries and bays into which they flow. Merlot, an early budding grape, does well here in the reliable warmth. This wine is dense garnet in color. It has a layered aroma of black currant, garrigue, plum, and vanilla. On the palate, good complexity, with black currant, blackberry, espresso with cream, and oregano notes. It has good structure: tannins present but smooth, plush mouth feel but not jammy. A real nice surprise. A perfect match for bison burgers! Drink now-2026.

Tasting Notes: The sunny weather in April has reinspired my love for chardonnay and this one from Noble Vines does not disappoint. The straw color displays its 5-6 months of time in French and American oak barrels. Grown in a cooler climate within the Monterey region of California, this wine brings vanilla, lychee, and bright citrus to the nose. Creamy and complex flavors starting with vanilla, pineapple, and peach followed by flower blossom, marshmallow and melon to finish. Long finish balanced with slight minerality, this wine has it all. Great value for its price, this is a wine to have on the table or sip on the deck all summer long!

Tasting Notes: A premium gin with some things to expect, and some things to not. This is a very understated, floral gin that's not too heavy on the more piney, medicinal notes particular to gin that might turn some away. At 44% ABV, Hendrick's has that acidic bite to it after the initial taste of rose, with faint cucumber and citrus on the finish. This would be perfect in a classic gin and tonic, or allowed to shine on it's own chilled to sip neat.

Tasting Notes: Canvas focuses on the generous sweetness of whiskies aged in American oak barrels. Tasting Notes: I am a big lover of big wines and this monastrell from Tarima Hill does not disappoint. Full of blackberry, blueberry and over-ripe raspberries, with vanilla and minerality on the finish. This wine has incredible complexity that develops with each glass. Smooth to drink on its own but incredible with bold dishes like steaks, aged cheddars, and my favorite- braised short ribs. Incredible value for the price, pick one up soon you will not regret it!

Tasting Notes: The Sichel family renamed this wine (the so-called 'second' wine of the domaine) from La Reserve D'Angludet to better honor the women who have contributed directly or indirectly to the history of the property since the 12th century. Deeply aromatic, it expresses layers of cherry, black currant, black licorice, plums, and violets. Upon first sip, the palate shows a smooth texture, with currant, black olive, dried dates, and truffle . Tannins are supple; the finish is long and complex. It offers the best quality for price in the entire Margaux appellation. This wine can be consumed now and will deliver an exceptional experience, but it can be cellared for a number of years. Pair with all sorts of cuisine: hearty vegetarian casseroles, roasted meats/fowl, chateaubriand.
