The Botanist Gin  Scotland

Tasting Notes: This gin is springtime in a glass! Islay's first dry gin is produced at Bruichladdich from nine classic gin botanicals and enhanced with 22 herbs and flowers that are hand-forged locally by their own botanical scientists. This combination of natural ingredients fill the glass with complex aromas and invigorating flavours, velvety texture ensues with a clean finish. I enjoy drinnking this gin either neat over ice, or with a splash of Perrier water and slice of lemon so I can savour all the delicious botanicals in it.

NIO Negroni Cocktail  Italy

Tasting Notes: NIO stands for Needs Ice Only. These prepared ready to drink cocktails creatively packaged in what looks like a CD case, are amazingly good! They were a big hit over the holiday season for stocking stuffers and small gift ideas. From Italy, they contain quality ingredients carefully measured into one decent cocktail to which you simply just add ice! Great for short trips to pack in your suitcase, or fun to try if you're not sure you want to invest in all the ingredients to make specific cocktails, you can try before you buy! The come in Negroni (my favourite!) Margarita, Old Fashioned, Cosmopolitan. Experiment and try all 4!

Petales d'Osyoos  Canada

Tasting Notes: Made of a single-piece vineyard overlooking the superb Osoyoos Lake. The youngest vines of the 32-hectare estate are behind this cuvee. It is a delicious, juicy red blend containing all five Bordeaux varieties. The blocks are kept separate, hand sorted, destemmed, and crushed at the winery. The fermentation is done in stainless steel cone-shaped tanks. Then, over 12 months, each variety is aged separately in two and three-year-old French oak barrels. The density and roundness of the tannins and textures make this wine so exciting for the price.Perfectly balanced, it's one to hold.

Price: $41.99

Manoir du Carra Beaujolais-Villages (Gamay)  France

Tasting Notes: The Manoir du Carra Beaujolais Villages is made from Gamay grapes harvested from 70 to 100 year old vines situated at 350 meters above sea level on south facing slopes. Hand picked, the grapes are separated on a vibrating sorting table and fermented with semi-carbonic maceration for 10 to 12 days. Aged in old oak barrels on fine lees for 3 to 4 months, the wine is bottled without filtration. Bright purple red in colour, this wine wafts from the glass with aromas of juicy black currant, raspberry, peach and violet. Although light in body, it is jam packed with flavours of juicy red fruits. It is tart and refreshing. The tannins are light with a slight bitter finish.
